About Celeste

Celeste PaintingI paint my still lifes in north light, which artists have preferred for hundreds of years. This is because the light remains the same from morning until twilight. I look for the prismatic pattern of light as it travels across the still life and falls on the objects. I strive to keep a sense of movement, atmosphere and unity of composition.

I have exhibited in many juried shows. Some of my awards include the Betty Kaytes Floral Award, the Albert J. Fortunato Award and First Place at the Hackensack Art Club Show. I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts from Syracuse University and continued my early studies at the Art Students League of New York City. Since 1993 I have been teaching painting at the Ridgewood Art Institute. My paintings are in many private collections locally, nationally and internationally. My colorful floral still life paintings are a favorite with patrons and interior designers. I live in Allendale, New Jersey with my husband and am a lifetime member of the Ridgewood Art Institute.
